A Nurtured Environment

A Nurtured Environment

The entirety of the Surf Coast region is renowned for its pristine environment and there’s a strong local culture that has created this.

It’s no wonder that the Surf Coast’s beaches are amongst the most beautiful in Australia. The preservation of the natural beauty and quality of the Surf Coast beaches is a high priority for the Surf Coast community.

The Surf Coast Shire has won a number of clean beaches awards, including the “Keep Australia Beautiful Victorian Clean Beach of the Year Award” for Bells Beach in 2010.

The Surf Coast was the first council in Victoria to implement “No butts, no cuts”; a program banning smoking and glass containers on all beaches in the Surf Coast. Many local community groups also work on initiatives to preserve the cleanness and beauty of the Surf Coast beaches.
