With a beach called Fishermans, you would expect some good fishing around here… and you’re not wrong.
Surf fishing off the beach is popular, with some good spots around Spring Creek and Pt Impossible’s Thompson Creek mouths and at Jan Juc Beach near the lifesaving club. Fisherman’s beach has a boat ramp, trailer parking, fish cleaning facilities and is home to the Torquay Angling Club. Among the varieties regularly hooked are snapper, trevally, whiting, mullet, salmon, bream and flathead. Boat fishing provides its own rewards with some big fish, including sharks and barracouta taken from the deeper water.
People over 18 – 70 years old (check for more exemptions) require a Recreational Fishing License in Victoria. Purchase online through Victorian Fisheries Authority.
